WFP's contribution to the SDGs
In seeking to end hunger and promoting wide partnerships to do so, WFP works across the spectrum of Sustainable Development Goals enshrined in the 2030 agenda.
Achieving peace and prosperity for people and the planet is at the heart of the , adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015.
The agenda sets out 17 action points – the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – to “free the human race from the tyranny of poverty” and “shift the world onto a sustainable and resilient path” by 2030.
Feeding over 100 million of the world’s hungriest people and helping millions more around the world improve their nutrition and build sustainable livelihoods, the World Food Programme (WFP) is a key player in efforts to achieve , which seeks to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture. In line with , which highlights the need to implement and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development, WFP works in close partnership with a wide range of national and international actors including governments, other UN agencies, NGOs, private sector companies and academia.
WFP’s activities also contribute to the advancement of other SDGs, and particularly of (ending poverty), (good health and well-being), (quality education), (gender equality), (climate action) and (peace, justice and strong institutions).
